Firefighter. Advocate. Neighbor.

Why I'm running.

I’m Chris VanDijk, and the struggles of District 32 are personal to me. I’ve lived them as a long-term renter, a 30-year union advocate, and a firefighter on the front lines. I paired a decade of emergency response with a Master’s in Public Policy to turn frontline experience into real results.

I'm running for State House to deliver a progressive, community-centered vision.

I’m not here to represent special interests. I'm an independent, liberal voice to truly represent us in HD32.

I WILL FIGHT FOR:

Fair wages that support a family.

Universal, accessible healthcare.

A sustainable future for all.

Dig into our issues page to find real solutions and real ideas to the actual problems we face.

A Proven Fighter for Our Community

We don't need a perennial candidate; after getting my Master's degree in Public Policy, I dedicated myself to rolling up my sleeves and getting to work for our community.

Public Safety & Community Resiliency.

True public safety means building a resilient Colorado from the ground up. As a firefighter, I've seen firsthand what our communities need to not only survive but thrive in the face of growing challenges like wildfires and a changing climate. It's about proactive solutions, not just reactive responses.

Fair Pay for Fair Labor.

A strong economy starts with strong workers. Having been in a union leadership position, I know the power of working and negotiating with management. We'll fight for legislation that protects workers' rights, strengthens our unions, and ensures everyone gets fair pay for fair work. It's not just a moral issue—it's a foundation for our shared prosperity.

Affordable & Accessible Housing.

For too long, the cost of living in Colorado has outpaced our wages. We need pragmatic solutions that expand housing options and build genuinely affordable communities. We should focus on creating diverse housing solutions and investing in the services that make our neighborhoods truly livable for working families.

Healthcare access that works.

Healthcare is a human right, and it's time for a pragmatic approach to make it a reality. I propose establishing a publicly funded community medicine program, led by first responders, to deliver essential medical care directly to those who need it most.

This is about real, actionable change—not just empty promises.
